Reassurance message following St Paul's Street incident in Stamford |
||
|
Yesterday armed officers were deployed to St Paul’s Street in Stamford at around 5.10pm. We would like to reassure you that this was an isolated incident, which was quickly contained and dealt with. The force had received reports of a man with a weapon and so we acted swiftly to mitigate any potential risk to members of the public. A 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene, but we are glad to confirm the weapon in question was in fact a toy. The man was wanted on a recall to prison and has been dealt with appropriately. We understand seeing armed officers in the street can cause anxiety, but ensuring the safety of those in our communities is crucial and our overriding concern. The force will not hesitate to protect the people of Lincolnshire. | ||
